Margaret Martin originally joined theMechanism's New York office in 2003 after she returned from teaching English in Japan on the JET Programme. At theMechanism - New York, she ran the administrative aspects of the company. As time went on, she developed as a project manager, helping to facilitate production on many client projects. Pursuant to her deeper involvement with web development and design, she learned to code HTML and CSS.

A dual-national (American and British), Margaret was drawn to the web as a modern means of expression and its use as a new medium for cultural transference following on from ideas in her undergraduate thesis at Vassar College. After taking a year's sabbatical in 2005 to get her MA in International Relations from Oxford Brookes University, where she further explored the role of modern media in international cultural relations, Margaret joined theMechanism - London in 2006 where she administers the office, company finances, helps plan business expansion and occasionally assists with client project production requirements including website content encoding and copywriting.
